Assessment
You will have a private assessment with a Chartered Physiotherapist. They will ask you questions about your current problem, previous problems, your general health, any medication you are taking, your occupation, sporting activities (if any) and leisure.

You will be asked to uncover the affected area. You may wish to bring a pair of shorts if you have a spinal or lower limb problem, and ladies, if you have a neck or shoulder problem, a t-shirt with thin straps may be useful.

The therapist will then perform tests on the affected or areas. This will include tests of movement, strength, sensation, reflexes and function. The area will then need to be manipulated by the therapist.
You may be accompanied by a relative or friend if you wish.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all sessions.

Treatment
Once the therapist has diagnosed your problem this will be explained to you. A treatment plan will be formulated and discussed with you before any treatment is commenced.
Treatment consists of a combination of joint and soft tissue mobilisations, stretches and exercises, electrotherapy (if appropriate) along with advice on how best to manage your symptoms.
